While there is not medical cure for Psoriasis, a combination of nutrition (diet, supplements, probiotics) and the right skincare (soap, shampoo, creams or lotions) can make a huge difference.
For diet, Turmeric is something that has been shown to have excellent results in several clinical trials and studies. The key compound in Turmeric that makes a difference iis Curcumin, which makes up 3% of Turmeric. Curcumin is also not easily absorbed into our bodies unless taken with black pepper. The simple solution is to just take a Turmeric supplement. In Singapore, there are several easily available choices such as “Turmeric Curcumin 95” by 21st Century, a brand commonly found in Watson’s, Guardian or Unity pharmacies.
Together with Curcumin, it’s important to combine that together with the right skincare to effectively minimize the chances and severity of psoriasis flare ups. The most important key is to stop using a harsh commercial cleanser. Learn to read soap and shampoo ingredient labels. For example Cetaphil markets itself as soap-free, as if that is a good thing. In fact it is the complete opposite. A body wash or cleanser that is not soap is a detergent. Just look at the ingredients on the back of a Cetaphil bottle, it contains just water with a bunch of chemicals, 3 of which are endocrine disrupting parabens, of which 2 are banned in the European Union and Denmark for strong links to numerous serious health problems.
For psoriasis and other auto-immune skin problems like eczema or sensitive skin, the key is to use a simple, unscented, all-natural soap. There are also a few natural soap types that people with psoriasis have found especially beneficial for psoriasis treatment.
Cold-pressed soaps that use only natural or organic ingredients are best for psoriasis, eczema and sensitive skin. The soap choices below are excellent options. You should try each one to see which work best for you. For some people, it’s also helpful to rotate the soaps.
Human skin is a permeable layer that absorbs dirt and toxins from the environment. These contaminants are especially problematic for people with skin sensitivity and problems such as eczema and psoriasis. This is where an activated charcoal soap helps detoxify skin. The activated charcoal pulls out dirt, toxins and bacteria like a magnet, leaving skin naturally clean without any harsh chemicals.
Oatmeal is well known to be anti-inflammatory (just Google to check it out) and has been used for centuries to relieve itch and skin irritation.
